In Garden of the Garden, photographs are made of printed photographs.

With playfulness these vibrant pictures question the relationship between a photograph of a thing and the thing itself. Contemporary experience is largely mediated through screens and images, so we often relate to nature through images of nature. These photographs help make us cognizant of this fact and remind us the natural world still exists outside the photographic frame.

The colorful images are interspersed with black and white images of stones, separated from their surroundings by black Sharpie marker. The black and white photos were among the last ones made near the artist’s home before he moved and the color photos were some of the first made near the artist’s new home at the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic.
